ANKARA (AA) – Football club Medipol Basaksehir on Monday topped the Turkish Super Lig in a 2-1 away win over Caykur Rizespor.
Basaksehir's Bosnian midfielder Edin Visca converted a first-half penalty successfully to break the deadlock in the Black Sea province of Rize.
But in the 60th minute, Caykur Rizespor's Nigerian forward Aminu Umar scored the equalizer.
The visitors' Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel netted the winning goal near the end of the match to secure victory for his club.
This season the Super Lig saw a relentless race for the title as four teams are now struggling to win it.
Leaders Basaksehir had 46 points in 23 matches.
Second-place Trabzonspor earned 45 points in 22 games.
Similar to the defending winners Galatasaray, Demir Grup Sivasspor had 45 points to chase Basaksehir.

Nursal Bilgin, a former sporting director of Kasimpasa, has died of a heart attack, club officials confirmed.
While watching Kasimpasa's Super Lig game against Yukatel Denizlispor on Monday, Bilgin was taken to an Istanbul hospital due to a suspected heart attack.
Kasimpasa won the match 2-0.
